Our PHP and IOP programs provide professional mental health care comparable to inpatient settings, but in a warmer, less restrictive environment.
Unlike hospitalization, your child returns home each night, maintaining family connections and practicing new skills in real-world settings.
Choose in-person sessions with free transportation, virtual therapy from anywhere, or in-school support based on your child's specific needs.
When a child is struggling with mental health challenges, many parents believe hospitalization is their only option. However, our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) often provide better outcomes:

We’ve eliminated the common barriers to consistent mental health care with three flexible options:
3. In-School Support Our therapists can work directly in your child’s school, providing therapy during the school day and helping teachers implement supportive strategies. This option is particularly beneficial for children struggling with school attendance or performance.
Our most intensive option, providing structured therapeutic support 5-6 hours daily, 5 days per week. PHP offers comparable care to hospitalization but allows your child to return home each evening.
A step down from PHP, providing 3-4 hours of therapy 3-5 days per week. IOP helps transition from intensive treatment back to regular routines while maintaining substantial support.
Weekly individual and group therapy sessions for ongoing support once acute symptoms have stabilized. This level of care helps maintain progress and prevent future crises.
Our approach is defined by genuine compassion and understanding:
‘From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and supported. The staff is incredibly kind, compassionate, and professional. They truly care about their patients and go above and beyond to create a safe, non-judgmental environment.’ – Pernell R.
‘Summer, Jesse and Maddie are exceptional and really put a lot of hard work into making the clients happy and help them overcome their challenges!’ – Blake L.
‘Theirs a man that works they’re and his name is Tony and he is just the best person you could ever meet.’ – Ryland S.
‘The therapists are highly knowledgeable and took the time to understand my needs, helping me develop the tools to manage my anxiety and depression more effectively.’ – Pernell R.
We believe that compassionate, non-judgmental care is the foundation of effective mental health treatment. As Jocelyn C., a therapist who toured our facility, noted: ‘I was impressed at the welcoming and bright environment.’
Financial concerns shouldn’t prevent your child from getting the care they need:
As Pernell R. shared, ‘They work with insurance, which made getting help much more accessible.’ And Kiya S. confirmed, ‘They worked well with my insurance provider and my employee short term disability team.’
Lizzy B. also noted our commitment to financial accessibility: ‘Mind Above Matter is working with me to let me start on a payment plan because me having to have everything all at once. Financial issues can be a huge barrier to Mental Health Treatment.’
Mental health challenges affect everyone in the household. Unlike hospital settings that limit family involvement, we integrate parents and siblings into the treatment process:
As Blake L. said in his review, ‘Come here send your family here great place!’ We believe lasting improvement requires supporting the entire family system.
Free 30-minute consultation with a clinical specialist. We’ll help determine if PHP, IOP, or another level of care is right for your child.
Our clinical assessment team will help determine the appropriate level of care. Generally, hospitalization is only necessary if a child is at immediate risk of harming themselves or others. Our PHP and IOP programs can effectively treat severe anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and even suicidal ideation when there’s no immediate safety risk. During your free consultation, we’ll help determine the right level of care for your specific situation.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides 5-6 hours of structured therapy daily, 5 days per week. It’s our most intensive option, comparable to hospitalization but allows your child to return home each evening. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers 3-4 hours of therapy 3-5 days per week, providing substantial support while allowing more flexibility. As Karalyn M. noted in her review, both programs “provide exceptional support and care, helping individuals on their journey to better mental health.”
The length of treatment varies based on individual needs, but most children participate in PHP for 2-4 weeks before stepping down to IOP for an additional 4-8 weeks. Throughout treatment, we continually assess progress and adjust the level of care accordingly. Our goal is to provide the most intensive support needed while transitioning to less restrictive settings as soon as it’s therapeutically appropriate.
We’ve eliminated distance barriers in three ways: 1) We provide free transportation to our center for families within a certain radius, 2) We offer fully virtual programs, as Lizzy B. mentioned in her review about accessing care through Zoom, and 3) Our therapists can provide services in certain schools. During your consultation, we’ll determine which option works best for your family’s location and needs.
For many children, virtual therapy is equally effective as in-person treatment, particularly for anxiety and depression. We use specialized engagement techniques designed for virtual settings and provide all necessary materials in advance. As Lizzy B. shared, we were able to “meet me where I was through Zoom” and still provide effective care. Virtual options are particularly valuable for families in rural areas or with transportation challenges.
Yes, in many cases. Our school-based therapy program works directly with your child’s school to provide therapy during the school day. This approach eliminates transportation barriers and helps address school-related anxiety or behavioral issues directly in the environment where they occur. Our educational liaisons also collaborate with teachers to implement supportive strategies in the classroom.
Yes. Unlike many providers who limit Medicaid acceptance, we accept Medicaid for all our programs, including our intensive PHP and IOP services. As Pernell R. noted, “They work with insurance, which made getting help much more accessible.” We’re committed to making hospital-alternative care available to all families, regardless of their insurance situation.
Our programs typically cost 60-80% less than hospitalization while providing comparable therapeutic hours. The exact cost depends on your insurance coverage, but most families with insurance pay between $20-100 per day for PHP and less for IOP. In contrast, hospital programs often cost $1,000-2,000 per day, with higher out-of-pocket costs. We’ll provide a complete financial breakdown before you commit to any program.
As Lizzy B. mentioned in her review, “Mind Above Matter is working with me to let me start on a payment plan.” We believe financial circumstances shouldn’t prevent access to quality mental health care. Our financial counselors work with every family to find solutions, including payment plans, sliding scale fees, and assistance programs. We’ll work with you to find an approach that makes our care accessible for your family.
Research shows that for many children, intensive outpatient programs like our PHP and IOP can be as effective as hospitalization for most mental health issues, with better long-term outcomes due to the real-world skills practice and family involvement. As Mark K. shared, “I was struggling mentally and financially and the team at Mind Above Matter held my hand through the entire process and I walked out a different person.”
Our clinical team continuously monitors your child’s progress and safety. If at any point they require more intensive care than our programs provide, we have established relationships with inpatient facilities and can facilitate a smooth transition if necessary. However, this is rare—our step-down approach typically allows us to adjust the intensity of care within our programs to meet changing needs.
Unlike hospitalization, which creates an artificial environment, our programs integrate with your child’s normal routine from the beginning. As they progress, we gradually reduce the intensity of services while maintaining support. This approach, combined with our family therapy component, creates a smoother transition than the often abrupt discharge from hospital settings. Our aftercare planning ensures appropriate ongoing support to maintain progress.
